Protecting your data

Privacy explained transparently.

This policy explains which personal data we process when you visit our website and use its functions, why we process it and which rights you have.

Last updated: August 2026

01

Controller

The controller responsible for data processing on this website is code to web Braun, Bernd Braun, Flussgrabenstrasse 5A, CH-9445 Rebstein, Switzerland.

For privacy questions or requests, contact us using the email function at the end of this page.

02

Basis and purposes of processing

We process personal data in accordance with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection and, where applicable, other privacy laws. Processing takes place in particular to provide and secure the website, communicate with you, perform contracts and provide the offered functions.

We process only the data required for the relevant purpose and do not use it for unrelated purposes. We do not make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects.

03

Website access and server logs

When you access the website, the hosting provider and our systems may record technical data, including IP address, date and time, requested address, transferred data volume, referrer, browser, operating system and hostname.

This data is required to deliver the website and ensure stability, error analysis and system security. Log data is retained only for as long as necessary for these purposes or statutory obligations.

04

Contact by email or telephone

When you contact us, we process your contact details, the content of your enquiry and the related correspondence to respond and, where applicable, take pre-contractual or contractual steps.

We retain communications for as long as required for handling, the business relationship, evidence or statutory retention duties. Emails are transmitted through the mail providers involved.

05

Customer account, login and password

For login, password changes and password resets, we process in particular your email address, name, permissions and technically required account data. Passwords are stored as cryptographic verification values, not in plain text.

For a password reset, we store a time-limited random token and send the reset link to the registered email address. Login status is stored in sessionStorage only for the current browser session and removed when you sign out.

06

Cookies and browser storage

The website uses technically required browser storage. This includes a cookie for your selected language and local storage for the colour scheme and, after login, session status.

You can delete or block cookies and local website data in your browser. This may limit language selection, display, login or individual functions.

07

Audience measurement with Matomo

Our hosting provider Cyon uses Matomo for statistical analysis of website usage. Visited pages, time spent, referring page, device, browser and operating system may be recorded and cookies may be used. The IP address is anonymised before storage.

Analysis takes place on servers in Switzerland and helps us improve our technical setup and content. You can block or delete analytics cookies in your browser settings.

08

Route planner, maps and routes

The route planner uses Leaflet to display maps and map data or services from OpenStreetMap and Google Maps. When a map is loaded or a route calculated, the relevant provider may receive your IP address, map area and entered start, destination and intermediate points.

Providers process data under their own privacy policies, potentially outside Switzerland. Do not enter confidential or sensitive information in routes. Leaflet is a technical software library and does not itself require an external analytics service.

09

Recipients and international disclosure

Personal data may be disclosed to service providers where necessary for hosting, email, map and routing services, IT operations or statutory obligations. These recipients process data under their own responsibility or on our behalf.

Where recipients are located in countries without an adequate level of data protection, we rely where required on appropriate safeguards or a statutory exception. We do not disclose data for third-party advertising.

10

Data security and retention

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data. The published website is transmitted in encrypted form via HTTPS, although absolute protection against every risk cannot be guaranteed.

Personal data is deleted or anonymised when its purpose no longer applies and no contractual, statutory or legitimate reason requires further retention.

11

Your rights and changes

Under applicable law, you may in particular request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection and, where applicable, delivery or transfer of your personal data. We may request proof of identity to handle a request securely.

You may also contact the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner. We may update this policy in response to legal, technical or organisational changes; the published version at the relevant time applies.
